Brand Identity System for Utilities Service Company

Project Overview:

A utilities service company approached Richmond Concept with an existing logo but no defined brand system or supporting materials. The client needed a complete brand identity package that could be applied across both print and digital touchpoints. Richmond Concept developed a cohesive visual system that included business cards, letterhead, envelopes, comp slips, and social media assets. The work focused on translating a simple logo into a fully realized brand presence that feels professional, consistent, and scalable across all applications.

Objective:
The goal was to create a clean, versatile brand identity that builds credibility and ensures consistency across all communications. We aimed to establish a clear color palette, typography system, and layout standards that work seamlessly across print and digital formats. Success was defined by delivering a complete, ready-to-use identity system that the client could immediately implement across their business.

Design Tools and Techniques:

We built the identity system using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, starting with the logo as the foundation for color and typography development. The palette was expanded to complement the existing logo while maintaining a professional and industry-appropriate tone. We selected a font library that balances clarity with personality, ensuring readability across both small-format print materials and digital use. Layout systems were developed with consistency in mind, using structured grids, spacing rules, and alignment principles that carry across all assets. Each file was created to standard UK print specifications, ensuring accuracy and ease of production.

Execution:

We began by exploring initial visual directions for key stationery items, including letterhead and envelopes, presenting multiple layout options that ranged from minimal to more branded applications. Based on client feedback, we refined the selected direction and extended it across the full set of materials, including business cards, comp slips, and secondary sheets. We ensured consistency in typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy across all formats. Additional exploration included tagline integration and variations for use across different assets. We also designed social media header graphics for LinkedIn and Facebook, adapting the brand system for digital environments while maintaining alignment with print materials.

Outcome:
Richmond Concept delivered a complete brand identity system that provides the client with a strong, professional foundation across all touchpoints. The final assets ensure consistency in both print and digital communications and position the company as credible and established within the utilities sector. The system is flexible and scalable, allowing for future expansion into brochures and additional marketing materials.
